Michaelie's Progress

JULY

Q: What is your goal in the next 12 weeks?

My goal is to lose 50 pounds and tone up my body.

Q: How did your body change during pregnancy?

Mainly it was just my belly that grew and grew; I didn’t have much of a problem with any other part of my body.  Unfortunately, my belly didn’t completely shrink after each pregnancy.

Q: What areas of your body do you feel you need to concentrate on?

My stomach and arms.

Q: How long after you gave birth did you resume exercising?

About 3 months after each child.

Q: How do you plan on balancing family, work, and friends while pursuing your fitness goals?

It is a struggle trying to balance it all, luckily I work at home which makes it a lot easier to eat the foods I need to eat and my family is very supportive, especially my husband. He makes sure I get my workouts in every day.

Q: What do you think will be the biggest challenge for you to accomplishing your goal?

Having to really watch the foods I am eating and sticking to my diet, because I have kids there is usually some type of tempting snack foods around.

Q: Take us through a typical day in the life of Michaelie. What's it like, what's your focus?

My typical day looks about like this-

I get up at around 5 am, get me, my daughter and my son dressed and we eat breakfast, then my son has to be to school by 8 am.  Usually my sister, my daughter and I take a 2 mile walk every morning as long as the weather is ok.  I get back home by 9:30 and I start working.  From about 9:30 until 2:00 I work and chase after my daughter and take care of whatever she needs, naps, playtime, etc.  I pick my son up from school at 2:30, come home and finish working, give the kids a bath and my daughter a nap, try to get dinner started, fold laundry and take care of whatever household things need to be taken care of.  My husband is usually home around 5, we eat dinner, I workout, get the kids in bed and read my son a story and I am usually in bed my 10 pm.  Typically my focus is mainly the kids, I am striving to put more attention into my workouts and diet.

January

Q: Weight lost to date?  I have lost 25 pounds!!

Q: What has helped you achieve this weight loss? Understanding nutrition, exercise, or self-accountability?

I believe self-accountability has helped me to achieve my weight loss along with feeling accountable to my trainer.  I hate feeling disappointed or as if I have disappointed someone else so that really pushes me to exercise and eat the foods I am supposed to eat as opposed to what I want to eat.

Q: What has been some of the struggles you've encountered along the way?

I really struggled over the holidays because my son was home from school and my husband was working from home so it was difficult to get in my workouts and eat healthy.  I also get burned out and have to push myself to workout and eat right and keep that mental image in my head of what I want my body to look like.

Q: Where do you draw your strength from when you feel a weak moment coming on?  Emails from my trainer, along with support from my husband are good motivators.

Q: How much weight do you still want to lose?

I want to lose an additional 30 pounds at least!

Q: What do you plan to do to lose the additional weight?

Stick to my diet and exercising which is what truly works.

Q: What advice would you give to other mothers that are struggling with loosing weight?  Keep your mind focused, you can do this.  It is not easy but the pride you will have in yourself when your goal is accomplished is worth all the sweat and tears.
